Parking is the only real drawback. Valet is available, but a bit pricey, so we used the structure across from Whole Foods and paid $25 overnight. The rooms feel warm and cozy, were clean, and had a great downtown view. The building is dated, especially in the shower, but I think that adds a nice retro feel and character. Some modern places feel too boxy and plain. I’d likely come back.

A great hostel for staying and partying. The rooftop pool bar and restaurant are a fun way to kick off a night in LA, and it’s easy to meet other travelers. The rooms are big and very clean, among the best I’ve seen for the number of beds. Book online, though, since I’ve walked in a few times and couldn’t get a bed.

Arturo at the front desk was amazing. I’d lost the diamond from my wedding ring and called to ask if they could keep an eye out in the room. He went to look right then and found it. He’s an all star, and the company is lucky to have him.

The room was pretty tight, so pack light, but the rooftop lounge and pool are worth checking out. The building is beautiful, with a cool lobby and shared spaces, and there’s plenty within walking distance. What stood out most was the service: everyone was friendly and helpful. Liz was especially great at checkout, patiently handling lots of people asking for her attention.

The location is handy for anyone on a budget, with train and bus access plus CVS, Whole Foods, and Dunkin’s right nearby. It can be noisy, though, which is expected in DTLA. We got a 50% off deal, and thank goodness, because paying over $150 for these rooms would feel like a disgrace. I’ve seen motel rooms half the price that were better. The fees at check-in were over $300, even though some gets refunded, which is ridiculous. The rooftop was under maintenance the whole time we were there, taking away a big reason we booked. Apparently this has happened to others a lot before. There are much better hotels around, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
