Kawada Hotel

The staff were so lovely, helpful, and very nice. The hotel looks nice, too, and it's close to City Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Broadway, though you have to walk uphill to get to those places. I chose it because I thought it was near my tour pickup point, but the city tour met somewhere else. If I'd known, I wouldn't have booked it. The room had all the amenities, but it was so small there was nowhere to lay out luggage for two people except on the bed. It's only comfortable for tiny people. If you're tall or well built, staying here is a challenge. The bed was so short, probably only suitable for someone 5'4" or under. The bathroom was tiny too, and you could barely turn in the shower without hitting things. The hand-held shower was the one good thing about it. The price was lower, but it was hard to be comfortable. If I'd known, I'd have paid more to stay elsewhere. Sorry, I wouldn't really recommend it to tall, strong Americans. At night, police cars, fire trucks, and motorcycles kept going by nonstop.

Friendly staff and a good price made this a great place to stay. It's about a five-minute walk to the metro and Grand Central Market, which has MANY food choices, and there's plenty of coffee, food, activities, and bars nearby. Parking was the tough part: there's no validation, and valet costs $40 a day. That's worth it only if you're going in and out of the hotel lots that day. Rooms are small, but given the price, it honestly wasn't a big concern.

We stayed one night and found the room very clean, with all the basics. The decor is cute, kind of boho-modern. Our full-size bed was comfortable, and the linens were so fresh they had a faint bleach smell, which was a win for me. The room really is small, as other reviews say. I'm not sure it would suit three people for a longer stay, or larger occupants.

Very clean, well located, and reasonably priced, so I loved it for a short stay. Some travel vlogs say the area can be sketchy at night. I was there in November and didn't go out after dark, so I can't vouch for that. The staff were great, and my room was cleaned during the stay even though I hadn't asked. I'd make it my first choice if I return to LA.
