The riverfront and Madison’s small-town charm made this our second visit, and we’re already planning to come back. My daughter and I stayed in the carriage house last weekend. It’s right downtown on 2nd street, so we could walk to the shops, restaurants, and pretty much everything else. The place is lovely, comfortable, and thoughtfully furnished. Sandy and Dick were gracious hosts.

Being less than a three-minute walk from Bicentennial Park made the Inn especially convenient for the Unbroken Circle Music Fest. Rooms fill up for the festival, so I booked more than a year ahead. Sandy and Dick answered my questions quickly whenever I spoke with them before the trip, and Sandy left useful notes around the Inn, including the wifi details. She also put out baked goods that made a great breakfast. This was our second time in Madison, and on our first visit I’d noticed the Carriage House & Inn while exploring downtown. This time, my wife and I stayed there and loved all the charming details. It’s right by Madison’s main street, with plenty of shops and restaurants. I’d happily book it again, even far in advance.

We’ve stayed here many times, and it’s been a lovely experience every time. The whole house is in a historic, quiet, safe neighborhood, and the rates are very reasonable. Hosts live nearby and respond quickly. The kitchen and bathrooms have everything you need, and Sandy leaves fresh baked treats for guests. It’s easy to walk to the coffee shop, Main Street stores, and riverfront. The brewery and winery with live music are just down the street. Inside, the beds are comfortable, the towels and linens feel premium, and the decor and little amenities are thoughtful. The landscaping is gorgeous too.

After trying several guest houses and bed-and-breakfasts on our many trips to Madison, my husband and I have stayed nowhere else since our first visit to the 2nd Street Inn. Sandy and Dick are so kind, and they’ll come help if something goes wrong, which for me usually means the TV remote. I love relaxing on the front porch with tea or coffee. Sandy keeps plenty on hand, along with welcoming desserts. The home is immaculate, the gardens are beautiful, and Sandy puts a lot of work into trimming and pruning them. The kitchen is fully stocked, and there are soaps, shampoos, and lotions in the bathrooms. Madison is a quaint little town with plenty of shops and restaurants. Sometimes it’s just nice to sit by the river and watch. I’m sure you’ll enjoy a stay at the 2nd St Inn in Madison, Indiana.

We loved the quiet, central location, which made it easy to explore this picturesque historic town on foot. The cozy porch and flower gardens, designed and cared for by the owners, were a treat. The 2nd Street Inn is a beautifully renovated and furnished house, with lovely decor, a nice kitchen, and nice bathrooms.
