Holiday Inn Express Madison by IHG

After driving 18 hours, my boyfriend and I arrived for a stay we’d booked and paid for online. The night clerk said there was no reservation, even after we showed her the confirmation, and insisted we pay for another room. She was rude, wouldn’t give us her name, and left as soon as her replacement arrived because she was waiting to finish her shift. The younger man who took over first said he didn’t know her name, then told us details about her family. After he spoke with the manager, he checked us in and said the room was comped for the trouble, with only a $5-10 deposit due. We found bugs on the windowsill, a booger on the shower curtain, and a dirty fridge and microwave. We reported it. He called the manager again, whose name sounded like Alla or something, sorry, pregnancy brain. He said he’d refunded the room, but we never saw that money come back, and moved us to a cleaner room. We felt uncomfortable all night. We overheard him telling management it was Booking’s fault, which seemed to brush off their own poor service. The manager’s family seemed to be all over the place, and we felt neglected. It was a horrible experience. We paid, and we won’t be back.

Truck drivers, this place has plenty of room for your tractor trailer. Circle around, then back in out front. Rooms and people are great, breakfast is amazing, and the coffee is dang good. There’s a Circle K, Waffle House, and Flying J with chicken across the street. Two thumbs up. Go get you some, you’ll thank me later.

We found bed bugs in room 323, told the front desk host, and left right away. Management needs to address this. Nobody should have to deal with it, especially children who could be badly bitten while sleeping or even sitting in an office chair. Please contact me once the whole hotel has arranged bed bug extermination and bought new furniture and bedding for guests.

Ladybugs were all over the place. They weren’t harmful, but the building also had an odor from what seemed to be a septic problem. I wouldn’t recommend this location or return. Definitely not a five star hotel.
