The Peabody Memphis

The Duck Master was the real highlight for me. He was friendly, attentive, and seemed to be everywhere at once. Kelsea greeted me with a big smile when I checked in, and she was both quick and very nice. The room was clean and pleasant, and the lobby bar had a lively, fun atmosphere. I spent Valentine’s Weekend at the Peabody and had the best time. Definitely a 10/10, and I can’t wait to return.

The duck tradition is quite a show. At 11 am, a Duck Master brings five ducks down from their rooftop pen in the elevator and leads them along a red carpet to the lobby fountain. At 5 pm, they’re marched back upstairs. The lobby fills with guests to watch. This historic national landmark is a gorgeous hotel, well maintained and full of history, with beautiful rooms. It was a pleasure staying at the Peabody on my business trip.

The duck parade was the thing I’d been waiting to see, even at 49, and it absolutely delivered. Kenon clearly loves his work, and it shows. From the moment our cab arrived until checkout, the experience was great. The hotel is beautiful, our room was lovely, and the signature Rubber Ducky cocktail tasted great.

The Peabody is right in the center of downtown Memphis, a historic landmark with the luxury, traditions, and service to match its reputation. I stayed four nights in mid-November and would happily return. My corner room felt like true five-star comfort, with a wonderful king bed, roomy, well-equipped bathroom, and a cozy sitting area. The famous ducks were unforgettable. In the morning they come down from the rooftop and waddle to the lobby fountain, then at 5 p.m. the Duck March takes them back to the elevators and upstairs. It’s pure Memphis charm and worth seeing. Service was excellent throughout. Everyone I met was friendly, professional, and welcoming, and housekeeping kept everything in order. I ordered breakfast one morning and dinner another, and both room service meals were delightful. The bar also had great service and a classic, upscale feel. Parking in the on-site garage was easy, with valet and self-parking available. The prices weren’t very different, so valet seemed worth the extra few dollars if you’d rather let them handle it.
