Hotel Pontotoc

We left relaxed and happy, already talking about coming back. My husband and I spent one night at Hotel Pontotoc for a staycation, and it was just the getaway we didn’t know we needed. The room felt warm and inviting, with stylish details, and the bed was so comfortable we wanted to stay in it for five more minutes. I also loved the quirky Memphis mementos and relics throughout the property. The whole place felt cozy and thoughtfully put together, perfect for a romantic night away in Memphis. We tried the first monthly “Taste of the City,” a culinary dining event at the downstairs speakeasy bar and restaurant, The Dame. What a treat, it made the night feel special. We also found complimentary, exclusive Phillip Ashley chocolates in our room, a lovely, decadent surprise. Hotel Pontotoc got the little details right, and the extras made the stay feel personal and indulgent. The location was perfect, within walking distance of many downtown restaurants and shops. Highly recommend for a charming, elevated Memphis experience. The only downside was that the trip wasn’t longer.

The Dame was a cozy spot, with good drinks and small bites, and the staff shared the hotel's Elvis connections with us. It made the stay feel like a little piece of Memphis history. Our room was beautifully decorated, and the building has so much character. Definitely coming back when we're in Memphis.

We really liked having The Dame downstairs, and our room was roomy, comfortable, and had just the amenities we needed. Hotel Pontotoc is also an easy walk from downtown restaurants and event spaces. A lovely place to spend our anniversary evening. We'll be back.

We had dinner at Catherine & Mary’s and breakfast at the Arcade after checking out, both an easy walk from the hotel. The Dame downstairs is worth a stop too. Danny made our cocktails feel like an event, explaining the technique behind shaking mine exactly 33 times, though he admitted the number was mostly a nod to Prohibition ending in 1933. The drinks and bar bites were great, and the dim lighting and elegant design gave it a speakeasy feel. On a cold January night, Kyla came out while we were exploring the outdoor area. She put cushions on two stools at the closed outdoor bar, switched on the radiant heater, and told us we could enjoy the space and come and go as we pleased. We had a drink out there comfortably several times. The hotel itself is full of character, with rooms that each feel different. The 1920s and 30s touches work nicely with the modern comforts, just as the website photos suggest. Online booking, contactless check-in, and code access felt convenient. I was initially unsure about there not being staff on-site around the clock, but it worked well. The room directory was also useful and answered questions we might have had. It’s a quaint, classy 10-room place that seems focused on quality and service. I can see it becoming a popular Memphis stay once more people discover it. We made some great memories here. K&S
