Studio 6 Merrillville, IN

We stayed with the kids, and it was a good stay overall. The place is budget-friendly, our room was clean, and housekeeping did a good job every day. The one thing I disliked was people smoking by the outside doors, so my kids had to walk through it to get inside. I’d still recommend it.

The general areas were filthy, and there were questionable people hanging out in every stairwell. The counter attendant stayed behind glass and a locked door. The tub was very dirty, the floor was dirty, and there were holes in the walls. The attendant stressed that smoking wasn’t allowed, but smoke was all I could smell. Plain sketchy and disgusting. I guess you get what you pay for.

Good, reasonable prices, clean rooms, and staff who were really polite and nice. Five stars.

The room was clean, but the noise made this a rough stay. I was there for school and had to get up early. Whenever I went to bed early, I could hear the outside door shutting from my room, so I played sounds on my phone to help me sleep. Around midnight, someone kept trying to open my door without calling or knocking. The security bar stopped them from getting in. Then they said the sound from my phone had woken the people next door. I couldn't get back to sleep until 2, worrying about what might have happened if my wife and 4-year-old kids had been with me.
