SpringHill Suites Marriott Midland

I spent 6 nights at SpringHill Suites in Midland, MI while my Mom was in the MyMichigan hospital for emergency surgery for a twisted bowel. Being just a few minutes from the hospital made it easy to return for a shower and some rest. My Dad, sister, and I took turns staying with Mom in the hospital so someone was always there. The room was clean and spacious, with comfortable 2 Queen beds, a pullout sofa, and a nice desk area. The free breakfast buffet was a welcome treat each morning, with plenty of hot options like scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and waffles. We used the guest laundry once, and the machines worked great with quarters. They also let us check out a little later since Mom was being discharged that day. The stay was kind and compassionate. Stephanie at the front desk always asked how Mom was doing, and I can't say enough good things about the hotel. I'd recommend it and stay again if I'm in the Midland area. Thank you so much!

The staff were pleasant, and the room itself was clean and nice. I didn’t like that the lights ran on an automatic timer, though. They’d switch off while I was in bed, so I had to get up to turn them back on. My sister’s room didn’t do that, and I couldn’t find a setting to change it.

The breakfast was good, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. But during our three-day stay, the room wasn’t cleaned at all. When I asked, I was told housekeeping only came every three days. We had to go downstairs for towels and were handed a pile straight from the dryer, still unfolded. The hotel is great otherwise, but Marriott needs to give that poor woman some help. Since Covid, hotels seem to have decided they can save on labor by skipping room cleaning. At the very least, provide towels and empty the trash.

After a day in below-freezing weather, all I wanted was to soak in the hot tub and ease the aches from my nursing contract job. Instead, I found it had been filled with cement. I’d have chosen a cheaper place across the street with just a pool for $89.00, since this stay cost too much without the hot tub. I’m glad I didn’t book the whole stay here. :-(
