La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Everett

The Bright Side Breakfast was a great start to the day, especially the waffles, and being right off I-5 made it easy to get around Everett. My room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and having a fridge and microwave was convenient. The staff were welcoming and professional from check-in onward. I had an amazing stay at this La Quinta and will definitely come back.

The place is outdated, in disrepair, and understaffed. Carpets were stained and some frames had been patched with tape. We had three rooms, and every one smelled of recent smoke to some degree, masked with scents. The pillows smelled too, and the elevator and hallways reeked of smoke and vaping. They offered to move us, but with all three rooms and the common areas smelling, it didn't seem likely to help. When I asked for a refund so we could leave an hour later, a new staff member said it was too late and we should have asked sooner. Paying a nonrefundable fee and being stuck in smoky rooms all night was frustrating. Don't stay here if smoke bothers you. For $10 more, you're better off next door at the Holiday Inn.

The stay was nice overall, but checkout morning was a bad experience. Around 9, my kids and I came in hoping to get a little food. The young woman at the front desk looked at us as if we weren't guests and rudely refused. When I asked why we couldn't eat, she said they keep the food for the next day. It's a nice place to stay, but she shouldn't judge people and needs to be more polite.

The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the shower had good pressure and temperature, breakfast had a great variety, and the fridge was large. If we'd been put in an updated room, I'd have rated it 3/5 based on other reviews, but ours wasn't. Our room felt dated: wall lights were loose, some outlets didn't work, and the bed frame blocked an outlet we couldn't move. There were stains in the bathroom, and the public bathrooms on the main floor were also unclean and had no paper towels. Trash bins in the breakfast area stayed full, and the milk often ran out without being refilled promptly. We could hear people talking in the hall and other rooms through the thin walls. Service was okay and staff were kind, but hard to find. There were just two towels for four people in a two-queen room, and it took over an hour to get more. They should update the rooms and hire more staff.
