The only good thing was that I could check in early. The Google photos didn’t match what I found. The front desk attendant first assigned room 104, but the manager walked by and said, “do room 204, it’s a nicer room.” If 204 was supposed to be nicer, I can’t imagine 104. I felt uncomfortable as soon as I arrived. People sitting outside stared and watched to see what I had, and the dirty front office smelled awful. The people coming and going didn’t seem to be up to any good. Room 204 was a nightmare: terrible smell, filthy floors and surfaces, spit stains on the bathroom mirror, and red residue in the tub that looked like blood. I’d asked for a non-smoking room, but the smell was awful, and the bedding had cigarette burn holes and brown stains all over it. The outlets by the sink didn’t work, and there was a gap between the door and floor. People sitting outside the property made me feel unsafe. They were renovating the unit next door and pounded for the whole two hours we managed to stay. I checked out and told the front desk woman how bad it was. She just said, “sorry, have a nice day!” I called several times asking for a refund, but there’s been no progress. Customer service said they couldn’t reach the front desk. I called the front desk myself and they answered, but the manager wasn’t in. Still waiting. If you’re staying in Monroe, NC, find another city.

We were here for a wedding over the weekend, and I wouldn't stay again. The rooms were filthy, with stains on the bathtub, a moldy shower curtain, trash lying around, and uncut grass outside. Some doors were busted, and what the website photos show isn't what we found. The breakfast room was just as bad, with no juice or butter for the waffles. There was also a lot of drug activity going on, and employees were living there.

I’ve never written a review before. I even made up an email because I’m honestly afraid to put my real name on anything connected to this experience. I stayed Thursday, September 25th, and was woken by a woman in a ski mask running around, swearing and threatening to beat people up. Scared, I called the desk. The employee said police were on their way, so I waited until I saw them before leaving my room. It turned out the police hadn’t even been called about her. After they left, the woman started yelling again. I called the desk once more and was told, “Welcome to the Super 8 in Monroe.” This went on for about two hours before things got quiet, just as breakfast time was approaching. While eating, I overheard the desk employee talking with someone who seemed to be another employee. They said the ski-mask woman worked there too. I was shocked that a hotel, even this run-down place, would let an employee run through the parking lot yelling and swearing in a ski mask. I asked where the manager was and was told he was asleep and didn’t want to be disturbed. When I asked for a number for someone above him, I was given an email address, and I’ve sent a message. I’d heard this place had improved, but I completely disagree. I went alone for one night and it felt like what I imagine THE PURGE might be like. The room had no landline phone, the towels and sheets were stained, and it smelled of cat urine. This is the worst hotel experience I’ve had, and I’ll never stay here again. I hope they sort out the chaos soon. I’ll do what I can to make sure something is done.

We stayed in room 103 last Saturday night, 11/1/2025, after a very long, difficult trip. It gave us a place to lay our heads, and that’s about all I can say for it. The building was run-down and dirty, with missing or damaged door locks, loose baseboard trim, and flooring planks nailed down in several places. The bedding and curtains had thin, worn spots, and breakfast was very limited. The pictures are quite misleading. My wife, Melissa Rodgers, was with me.

There were people hanging around the parking lot late at night, and it felt more like a sketchy nightclub than a hotel. I counted at least 12 police cars responding to an incident involving a wanted guest, but the place still felt very unsafe. Inside, the sheets were dirty, the bathroom was disgusting, the furniture was broken, and the floors were filthy. Breakfast was terrible too. This was one of my worst hotel stays, and I won't return to this Super 8. I’d tell others to avoid it as well.
