The room itself was nice, and it was quiet on the way there, though kids were making noise in a room around 7 or 8 pm. I could hear them through the walls and heard one in the hallway, but couldn't tell which room they were in. The tub hadn't been cleaned on the bottom, and almost all the washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels had hair on them. I even found a hair where the soap goes. Parking is very limited, maybe five cars at most. Check-in dragged on: I waited about ten minutes at the desk after saying I had a reservation, and they had to scan my card again because the first copy didn't work. I'm not sure I'll come back.
Harpal at check-in was thorough and very helpful. The overnight staff member let us park by the hotel entrance when all four spaces behind it were full. The other staff member and a woman from cleaning were accommodating too, and those three were the best part of the stay. The woman at checkout, though, wasn't friendly. The hotel looks old, with a few minor upgrades. There were stains on the ceiling, walls, bedding, and surfaces people touch often. The walls were dirty and so thin, and the train line next door made noise. Parking amounts to four spaces at the back and one up front. I brought my own pillowcase and covering, wore pool shoes in the shower, and stayed just one night. Given the lack of decent hotels at a good price in Brooklyn, I chose this place, but I'll look elsewhere for my November visit. If the stains hadn't been there, I might have rated the location three stars. Look at the photos and decide for yourself. Best of luck.
The room was mediocre at best, and I wouldn't book here again. They put us in a basement room with dried vomit on the floor, bed, and walls. When I told the receptionist, he asked us to wait there until he called about changing rooms, so we stood in that room for at least 20 minutes. I'm sure they would have called me a liar if I hadn't taken pictures. I don't understand how staff could have missed it and assigned the room to someone. Their signing machine wasn't working either, so they sent me up without signing and called me back later.
First time in NY and it's been good so far. The train outside the window is noticeable, but not awful, and the service has been good. The bathroom is clean, and there's cable, free Wi-Fi, a comfortable king bed, a desk, and a fridge with freezer. Ice and free parking are a plus, and you're right in the middle of everything. I haven't tried breakfast yet.
The staff were attentive and quick to respond, and the rooms are clean, modern, and on the smaller side. The rate was inexpensive, so it was a good experience overall. Keep in mind there's only street parking. The hotel sits in a very dark area under a train overpass near the LIRR, with a bus hub next door and frequent evening traffic.
