The front desk team were polite and welcoming both when I arrived and when I left. Henry Norman sits in a more industrial part of Greenpoint, so the block itself isn’t the postcard version of Brooklyn. Still, bars, restaurants, and McGolrick Park are walkable, and Williamsburg is right next door. My room had the feel of a high-end Brooklyn apartment, with eclectic art, a reclaimed wood coffee table, and a practical layout. There was a full kitchen with a compact fridge and dishwasher, so the space felt livable and just the right size. The converted 19th-century warehouse has that industrial but comfortable Brooklyn character. The lobby’s warm, colorful walls and historical and artistic touches made me stop and look around. And outside, the two vintage taxis and bronze sculpture of a dog and bunny riding a scooter are hard to miss. You really will want to photograph them. Staying here felt like borrowing a cool friend’s Greenpoint loft. A good fit for solo travelers, creatives, or anyone tired of the standard hotel experience.

A relaxed hotel with a great atmosphere, and an easy, safe-feeling 13-minute walk to the metro. It was around -6C on average while we were there, and the room took a while to warm up. I suspect the insulation isn’t very good. Still, we had a very nice stay.

The rates were very reasonable for this area, and the stay was tidy and hassle-free. I came for a short weekend and was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly it went. The building feels relaxed, with quiet hallways and casual shared spaces. My compact room was clean and bright, with a comfortable bed and a decent shower. At the desk, the staff were friendly and efficient, gave me local tips, and quickly held my luggage.

The biggest issue was the price. $400 for one night in Brooklyn felt totally overpriced. Breakfast was subpar, so you can skip the included breakfast option and try one of the nicer places nearby. Our room was huge, with a high ceiling and a large bathroom. It was very clean, and the staff were pleasant.

I haven’t been back to the hotel in a while, but the help I’ve received recently deserves recognition. My travel plans went awry twice, and both times the staff gave generous, world-class assistance. Management clearly lets the team work with customers to find solutions that suit everyone. I can’t wait for my next stay, and I’d recommend Henry Norman and its related properties and restaurants in Brooklyn to anyone visiting the city.
