Outsite Chelsea - Work, Connect, Explore

We had a nice time connecting with other remote workers at a pizza night. The community was good, though there usually weren’t many people around. The coworking space takes up the whole basement floor, so it’s really spacious and even has a booth for calls. The building itself is beautiful and feels like a local Chelsea place.

The shared areas were so practical that it was comfortable to spend the whole day in the building. The kitchen was new and fully equipped, and everything else was on site. I felt very comfortable here and would recommend it for a New York trip. Shops, cafés, and the subway are all within walking distance.

The thin walls and doors meant we could hear people talking and doors opening, and one night a guest was screaming really loudly around 3am. It affected our stay a bit. The building seems older, which is common in NYC, so that may be why it’s noisy. Still, we had a great first stay at Outsite Chelsea and really like the coworking hotel idea. We had a couple of small problems with the lock codes and a leak in our room after heavy rain, but the community manager, Lana, helped quickly and got them sorted. We’re happy with Outsite overall and have already booked another trip.

I was surprised to find signs in every bathroom saying not to flush several things, including toilet paper. I understand the warnings about tampons and cotton balls in an old building with plumbing that may not handle them. But the NYC Department of Environmental Protection website says toilet paper is okay to flush, and it’s made to break down in water. If flushing it really is a problem, Outsite should fix the plumbing or provide bidets. We were very uncomfortable with the idea of keeping used toilet paper in the trash for our whole stay. We used the en suite bathroom only to shower and brush our teeth, and had to leave the building to find a usable restroom. I contacted the Community Manager because we hadn’t been told about this beforehand. They acted like I was unreasonable for expecting to flush toilet paper, then stopped responding. It put a serious damper on what should have been a nice trip. I would have given Outsite 5 stars otherwise. The room was clean, the decor was modern and nice, and the location was convenient.
