We booked one property but were moved without notice to a completely different, much less desirable one. The substitute attic room was filthy and unsafe: urine on the bed skirt, dried feces on the floor, no working fire alarm, and no fire escape. We were only moved back to the original property we’d paid for after filing a complaint with Booking.com. The staff were kind and tried to help, but the owner, Rick, was rude and dismissive. A nightmare experience, and I strongly advise against booking here. See the pictures below of molded poop and urine on the bed skirt.

Rick, the host, was awesome and very hospitable. He called before my reservation to arrange for my early arrival and made sure the room would work well for me. I had a great stay and hope to come back soon.

Rick was very nice and accommodating at Cleveland house inn. He upgraded us to a nicer room in a building closer to thames street, and we couldn’t have been more grateful for a better stay. Free parking and everything was very walkable. We’d recommend it and will definitely be back!

Downtown Newport is full of history and fun to wander around, and Cleveland House made it easy to explore on foot. It’s close to everything and just a walk from downtown. Our room had lots of charm, the facilities were comfortable, and our host made sure we had what we needed so the stay felt easy and worry-free.

We were in town for a wedding and stayed for the weekend. The inn is about a five-minute walk from the marina, shops, bars, and restaurants, and the breakfast was delicious. We were welcomed at the entrance and got help with our bags. When we were running late and Ubers were taking over 30 minutes, the owner kindly offered to drive us to the wedding. We’d stay here again.
