There’s not much room, so this is best if you don’t need a spacious room. Ours was cute and cozy, and we weren’t in it much anyway. It’s right by the ocean and good food. They also had places to refill water bottles and fresh-ground coffee available any time, day or night.

We booked at the last minute after arriving in town late, and were really impressed by how clean the room was and how welcoming everyone was. The motel is close to pretty much anything you might want to do, including hiking. We visited the first week of November, when prices were a little lower, and still felt it was worth every penny for the view. We enjoyed our stay and would return if we’re in the area.

We had a lovely time at Sea Chambers and wouldn’t hesitate to return. We used the hot tub and spent both evenings by the fire pits. The staff even left a bottle of champagne for our anniversary and a birthday note, apparently drawing on details saved in their computer system from years ago. They were also willing to move our things to the next room while we were out, though we moved ourselves before heading to Kennebunkport after seeing the room being cleaned early. We got a last-minute two-night stay after stopping by to ask about availability for the following day. We’d been inland with family and wanted some time alone by the water. We did have to switch rooms for the second night, staying in Rooms 75 and 76, both in the new building with the office and check-in desk. They were both very clean and looked over the pool. Room 75 was huge, with a sitting area, kitchenette, large bathroom, and plenty of closet space for clothes. A nightlight and more room for towels and toiletries would help in the bathroom. Room 76 was smaller, but also clean. It had a separate bedroom with a bed and dresser, probably intended for a child but big enough for one adult. That was perfect for our belongings. There was also a kitchenette, a small sitting area with two chairs, and a comfortably sized bathroom. The pool area has been redone, with the hot tub, fire pits, and lots of tables and chairs on the deck overlooking the water. We’d stayed at Sea Chambers every year for a decade, then didn’t come back for nine years. Since then, they’ve remodeled and even rebuilt a building.

The location is great if you want to be near the beach crowds, restaurants, tourist shops, and other shopping. The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly, but we were glad to leave after two nights. Our room was tiny for two, with no table, closet, or even a chair to sit in when it rained. It also felt expensive for such a small space. This wasn’t what I expected, so I’d suggest asking for more room details before booking.

It’s very close to town and things to do, and I’d recommend staying here for that. My only reason for taking off a star is the October price: $500/night for a nicely appointed room with a king bed and ocean view felt more like a midsummer rate.
