Holiday Inn Omaha

The hotel looked lovely from the outside, but our stay was a different story. The first room hadn't been cleaned, and although the second seemed fine at first, the tub drained very slowly and there were bugs in the room. My family and I were so disappointed that I was tempted to check out and keep driving. I wouldn't stay here again, and I'm done with Omaha, NE. Glad other guests had a better visit, though.

Our group had booked rooms ten months ahead for a baseball tournament, with more than 13 families across two teams. We paid over $130 a night, and the hotel knew we were coming for one of the state's biggest youth tournaments. The general manager accused our team of setting off the hallway fire alarm, then shouted about kicking us out until he was red in the face. He told me and another concerned adult he was frustrated because he'd just arrived from New Jersey and hadn't seen his wife. That's not our problem, and he shouldn't be screaming at guests, especially children. This wasn't the first time he'd had a shouting fit. We had called a week before arriving to get permission to grill outside, but after we did, he ordered us to leave the area and again threatened to kick us out and notify the tournament director. He was rude, disgusting, and vulgar. If children and big groups are a problem, this hotel shouldn't be on the event's approved lodging list. The rooms smelled, looked dated, and were filthy. We were first given a room that hadn't been cleaned, then moved to one with mold all over the shower. Housekeeping said they were swamped and would try to address it, but nothing was done. The pool water was cloudy and never cleared up, and breakfast was horrible. Staff from housekeeping, breakfast, management, and guest services were all rude and unaccommodating. The rooms and bathrooms were dirty and moldy. We'll contact corporate so they know we won't return to this hotel or any Days Inn.

There was no breakfast, fitness room, or pool access. We needed a clean, quiet place to split up two days of driving, and didn't get either. We arrived at 11 pm to find our first room had an unmade bed and dirty towels. On the way back to the lobby, the smoke and weed smells were awful, and loud crying from what sounded like an older child or an adult came from a room. The replacement room was okay, but the whole place was dirty, even if its age might explain why it looks worn. Outside, there were random grills and a pile of clothes by one room, as if someone had dumped them from the balcony. Around 5:30 am, slamming doors and what sounded like a domestic argument woke us up. It was scary for a few minutes. Judging by the cars and what we saw, it seemed to be used for long-term housing, and most of the people there didn't seem like travelers. I hate to imagine what else may be going on. If we hadn't paid with miles, I would have asked for a refund. Cleanliness and safety matter a lot during Covid. We chose this based on TripAdvisor reviews and should have checked Google. I'm a small business owner and don't like leaving bad reviews, but I wouldn't want another family staying here.

We had a great stay and would come back if we vacationed in the area again. The room was clean and well stocked, and the pool was clean too, in a pretty courtyard. The two women at the desk were really nice and helpful. Breakfast could have been better. There wasn't much for little kids beyond Fruit Loops, and I have a meat allergy, so I couldn't eat the omelets with meat and peppers. Scrambled eggs with toppings on the side would have worked better.
