Embassy Suites Portland Airport

I’ve stayed at this nice hotel many times, usually for business. It’s right across from the airport and close to other places around Portland. On one evening, we ate at the restaurant in the main lobby, where we met our host and server, Indir. He was friendly, funny, and did a great job, the kind of customer service you rarely find these days. The food and drinks were great too. I don’t write many reviews, but Indir made this one feel deserved. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks, Indir!

The location is great, and the staff are really nice. The service was great too. The rooms feel 20 to 30 years old and are pretty dated, though, and the air-conditioning can’t keep up. It’s not terrible, but that’s why I’m not giving five stars.

My stay was okay, with no major complaints, and I’d stay again if work brought me back and I had no other option. The hotel and furniture are old, and while the room was somewhat clean, it still had a few things left behind by the previous guest. At the front desk, nobody was rude, but they weren’t welcoming either. Even a simple greeting would have helped. I also found it unusual that parking is handled by a third-party vendor, though it’s part of their policy.

The PDX Embassy Suites was a very nice stay, and I’m sure it’ll be my hotel of choice when I’m in Portland. A convenience store and gas station sit across the street, with a whole shopping and dining area only a 5-7 minute drive away. My main complaint was the $20 a night parking fee, a standard nuisance at most Embassy hotels now. The complimentary cook-to-order breakfast was very good. My room surprised me: Embassy rooms are often dated, but this one had what looked like recently updated furniture in pristine condition, and it was clean and comfortable. The bedspread hadn’t been tucked in as usual, but that didn’t bother me. The hotel is attractive inside, and the lounge, bar, and restaurant area stretches across both sides of a walkway and fish pond. There’s only one bank of elevators; even with one of the three out of order, the wait was short. It’s conveniently located about .5 miles from the airport terminal, and aircraft noise wasn’t an issue despite the nearby runways.
