We had nine rooms for our team’s Governor’s Challenge trip. Check-in was supposed to be no earlier than 3:00 PM, which we understood, but the rooms still weren’t ready until after 4:00. That delay made us late getting to our scheduled game. We asked for a late checkout the next day and were first told it should be fine, with a reminder to check at the desk in the morning. Then staff said it couldn’t be formally approved, though they’d work with us until noon. The interaction with Anne Webster was upsetting. She told us to “get out of her hotel,” spoke rudely, said she owned the hotel, and claimed there was nobody above her to raise concerns with. As we left, she glared at the young men on our team. Her staff seemed uncomfortable, and one person privately told us this sort of behavior happens often. We had everyone out by 11:23 AM, well before noon. For a youth basketball group, being treated this way felt especially disrespectful and uncalled for. We expect hotel management and staff to be courteous, professional, and consistent.

I keep coming back for the location, though the price is high for what you get. It’s a basic hotel with a tiny three-machine workout area, no pool, and almost nowhere outside to sit except a few dated chairs and end tables by the back door. Other hotels like Holiday inn offer more on site for less. There’s room for this property to become much nicer if someone invests in it, and it’s surprising given it’s part of wyndham properties, which are usually in good shape. The front desk staff are mostly friendly, professional, and well presented, but there’s only one person at the desk at a time. Housekeeping is hard to communicate with because they don’t speak English, and even the desk staff have trouble getting messages through. They seem rushed and not supervised, and appear to work only around 9 AM to noon or 1 PM, even though checkout can run until 11 or noon. That timing doesn’t seem to leave much chance to clean rooms properly. I’d like to see them taught English for better customer service, and Wyndham send upper management unannounced to observe what’s happening. My room wasn’t consistently cleaned well during the stay. Floors weren’t swept or mopped, bedding was remade without being changed, bathrooms weren’t properly cleaned or restocked beyond towels, and sinks and toilets got only a quick wipe. Rooms have no dresser or closet, just a few hangers, and the trash cans barely fit a bottle or two. The bedding setup, a sheet, comforter, and another sheet over it, didn’t look very professional. The beds are old and uncomfortable, with springs you can feel. The hotel could use an upgrade in style, especially for the rates.

The room was clean, though really cramped. I’ve had larger rooms for less. The curtains had a Brady Bunch look, but I’m fond of that era, so they were fine by me.

Breakfast had a nice enough range for me, with seasoned potatoes and waffles, which are a must for me. The room and bathroom were clean, though I always wipe things down again myself. I liked having no carpet on the floors, since dark carpeting can make me feel like dirt is being hidden. The room was great, the location worked well, and the shower pressure was better than at some more upscale hotels. It was my first time at a Microtel Inn and Suites and we were only there one night. My only complaint was finding two water bottles in the freezer, one already open. I’d appreciate housekeeping taking that extra step. I’d stay again.

Service was pleasant and breakfast tasted good, but the room didn’t have much storage. There’s no bathroom counter, closet, or dresser, only a couple of hangers. There’s also a second sink in the bedroom, which looks more like a big kitchen sink.
