Comfort Inn Salt Lake City Downtown

The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean, and both the hotel and staff were nice. Breakfast was good too. But the room got way too warm because the AC didn't work, even after they rebooted the thermostat. The fridge also wasn't getting cold.

It was quiet, smelled nice, and the location and price were good. We liked the large bushes outside our first-floor window, though parking was limited, so be ready to find a spot nearby if the lot is full. The room was clean and nice, and the sheets were clean with no bedbugs. Temperature control worked well. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner, and its fan didn't work. The TV picture was very dark and we couldn't adjust it.

The manager was never on duty, and the staff barely understood English. Maids were yelling to each other in Spanish from opposite ends of the hallway, and there was a fight in the parking lot with people from the adjacent apartment complex. The bathtub was moldy and mildewed around the tiles, the drain clogged, and showering left you standing in ankle-deep foamy filth. The faucet ran continuously and wouldn't shut off. Hot water was hit or miss: after about 30 seconds of lukewarm water, my shower turned ice cold just after I'd wet my hair. This is a motel, not a hotel.

I never felt fully safe or clean in either room. Our first room had ceiling holes, a rattling AC, a toilet seat that hadn't been properly cleaned, standing water in the bathtub, and a door that wouldn't lock properly even though it opened straight onto the outside parking lot. We were able to switch rooms, and that one was better, but there was a roach and hair on the shower wall, so the shower still hadn't been cleaned properly. Breakfast was alright, and the location was at least somewhat convenient to Courthouse station. This is a two-star hotel at best. If you can, spend a little extra for something nicer than the Comfort Inn.
