Best Western Red Coach Inn

The free parking is a big deal in expensive San Francisco, where it can be hard to find an affordable place without overnight garage fees or circling the block. Red Coach Inn felt like an oasis in the city. My room was clean, modern, and seemed recently renovated and well maintained when I stayed in December 2025. WiFi was fast enough for Zoom calls without a problem, which I need. The area was fine and well connected, with plenty of public transport nearby. Affordable, clean, and it has what I expect from a Best Western, including solid customer service.

It’s in a lively part of town day and night, and downtown felt lovely and eccentric, or just different. Use common sense, take in the area, and try the local food spots, which are high quality. The room was spotless, the amenities were valuable and top notch, and there was continental breakfast. Staff were accommodating, nice, and down to earth.

The staff were genuinely kind, polite, and always ready to help. They even gave me a map and marked streets to avoid because there are a lot of homeless people around the location. The area isn’t great, but the rooms were spacious, updated, and very clean. Breakfast was the usual hotel kind, and the place itself was clean. Free on-site parking was a huge plus.

It was low priced and breakfast was available in the mornings, but the breakfast area was almost always crowded, so it’s best to get there early. Some people wait until the last minute. The coffee machine was broken one day during my visit, so I made more in my room. Noise was the bigger problem: traffic and honking echoed off the buildings and woke me multiple times. I could hear people yelling downstairs and even neighbors coughing through the thin walls. The gated property felt somewhat secure, though people sometimes wandered around yelling late into the night.
