I planned to stay one night and liked it enough to extend my visit. The decor, surroundings, and people are lovely. It’s one of the best hostels I’ve found in more than 18 years of staying in hostels around the world, and I fully plan to book again. I’d recommend it without hesitation. The crowd of travelers was so nice, and Assad is an absolute legend. He kindly helped carry my bags up the three or four flights of stairs, helped me with padlocks, and we had great conversations about places we both love. The hosts were kind and helpful too. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk to Montgomery Station and close to the tram stops. Chinatown felt safe; I wandered around there solo late at night without fear. Plenty of bars and food are nearby. The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and I liked having a privacy curtain. I just wish each bed had its own light. The bathrooms were clean and lovely. The showers take a minute to warm up, but then the water is hot, plentiful, and has good pressure.

A warm, welcoming place for backpackers, with a real home-away-from-home feel. There’s a friendly community, good spirits, fun karaoke, pizza on the house, and nice conversations for anyone who enjoys spending time and meeting people. Breakfast is free, the hosts are helpful and very nice, and the prices are reasonable. I enjoyed ITH and will definitely make it my go-to when I’m in San Francisco.

They put on fun social events every other evening, and I had a good week here. It’s a nice hostel for travelers. It sits between the Financial District and Chinatown, in a safe area. The Ferry Building is walkable, as are bus stops, and I had no trouble coming back after sunset. Be ready for the stairs since there’s no elevator, though the manager kindly helped haul my luggage up.

The check-in guy was kind and genuine, and they’re making a real effort with little extras like taco and pizza nights, free tea, and even peanut butter and jelly. The facilities are amazing, though I hope they can find the funds and energy to update some rooms, especially the carpets. It’s in a good, safe spot between Chinatown and FiDi, with a very short walk to BART/Muni. Highly recommend.

I’ve stayed here a few times, and it’s been amazing every time. Clean, organized rooms, outlets everywhere, and easy Wi-Fi that’s fast enough. Staff are flexible and communicate well. There’s free food and events at certain times. The location is excellent, close to lots of notable places in downtown SF.
