King George Hotel

King George Hotel in San Francisco was clean, comfortable, and well located for exploring the city. The staff were kind and welcoming throughout. Abdullah deserves special thanks: he was professional, explained which attractions to see, and gave us clear directions on using FastTrak. That saved us time and stress while traveling. His local knowledge and willingness to help really made a difference. We'd definitely stay again, and I recommend it for the friendly, caring service.

My husband booked a room at King George Hotel through Expedia for January 2027, successfully making the reservation a month ago. The hotel cancelled it yesterday, saying they'd contacted his credit card company and couldn't verify his card. He called the company, which confirmed there had been no such request. Based on my years of experience, I trust my credit card company much more. I also saw another TripAdvisor review saying the management was greedy. Our situation supports that impression, since the currently posted room price is significantly higher than what he'd booked. The location near Union Square may be convenient, but be careful about who you're dealing with.

King George is clean, and that's the main thing I need from a hotel. I've stayed at a few San Francisco places in this price range and they were disgusting. This one is small and the water pressure is weak, but I have no real complaints. The area has some sketchy things, so use ordinary street smarts. Ross and Target are close by, as are several BART stations. I'll definitely keep coming back.

3.5 stars. The friendly staff and location near Union Square are the main draws. Rooms are run down and poorly insulated, and the hot water can take a while to reach the shower. They serve coffee and light pastries in the morning. There's a small bar and a soda vending machine, but no gym. Try Mason Diner next door for breakfast.
