Marine's Memorial Club

The free bar from 16:00 to 18:00, with local drinks only, got us to come along, and we met some amazingly interesting people. As ex military, we found common ground straight away with some of them. That led us to have dinner beside the bar, with great views and an amazing pianist playing and singing blues, soul, and jazz, and taking requests. The staff made a wonderful experience even more special. If you're ex forces and staying in San Francisco, consider this place. The rooms are spacious, nice, and clean, with very comfortable beds. Some staff are ex forces too, and they were polite and accommodating. We used the great business center, but bring a jumper because the AC can't be turned off or adjusted.

The building has a lot of charm, and the location is convenient. Rooms are very clean and good value. There's free laundry and breakfast, plus one of the best hotel gyms I've seen, with a lap pool. I'll definitely stay again when I'm in SF.

Breakfast had a wide selection of delicious sweet and savory food, and the afternoon drinks for hotel guests were a lovely extra. There's also free laundry on site, which made the stay more convenient. The hotel is centrally located, though there are quite a few homeless people around. Staff keep things secure, so overall I felt okay staying there.

The hotel is an unusual living memorial to the Marine Corps, with something like a museum on every floor. We stayed two nights near Union Square and didn't need a car at all. It's close to everything, with public transport connections across town. The restaurant's view over the city is breathtaking, and happy hour at Chesty's Bar feels like a scene from a movie. Both were part of the stay. The included breakfast was outstanding. Our room was comfortable, with a good bed and linens, a nice desk, and a comfortable chair. The bathroom was a little small but had everything we needed. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
