The free breakfast was amazing, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed sharing the space. It gives young teenagers a chance to learn how to be considerate around others. The staff were really nice, the showers were hot and private, and the street wasn’t noisy for the middle of a big city. There are some longer-term residents, which changes the hostel vibe: some cooked in the kitchen like it was their home, and others watched Netflix in the common room. I met a couple of really nice homeless people trying to get back on their feet. There are no sinks in the toilets, only in the bedrooms, so you have to brush your teeth while others are sleeping. The location isn’t bad, right by the Hilton. There may be homeless people around, but that’s San Francisco. I’ll stay again.

I loved the breakfast, and for the price I paid, the stay was decent, so I’m giving it five stars and will surely return. The location is walkable, with different transportation options nearby, and the staff are friendly and try their best. I reported someone smoking Marijuana in my room, and they moved me. I can’t stand that. Then someone checked into the new room at 11 PM and kept going in and out all night, talking to himself and disturbing people. I really thought he was a guy from the neighborhood, LOL. Please enforce the rules. There’s no heating in the room either, LOL.

We had a small private room with bunk beds. It was a bit tight but worked for us. My daughter was creeped out at first because the building is old, but by checkout she was sad to leave and wanted to stay longer because the staff were so kind. We tried the breakfast, and sharing space like that was a cool way for young teens to learn to be respectful around other people. There were lots of homeless people in the area, but it wasn’t horrible. We walked 20 minutes each way to a local music venue. Coming back at 11:30 PM, there were fewer people around, which seemed backwards. The streets were well lit, and most people were in their own little world. So smile and be kind. We’ll definitely return. Thank you.

The hostel’s in a sketchy area, but the employees were polite. The common spaces were clean, and my room was pretty clean too. Nice place!

The showers were small, looked dingy, and the water came out strangely with the temperature all over the place. Breakfast was good, though. They’d put a lot of thought into it, and it was a nice start to the day. I’ve stayed in better places, and there are better options. At the front desk, they told me they wouldn’t honor my room reservation even though I’d already paid a reservation fee online, because I’d lost my wallet earlier in the week and didn’t have my ID. I did have my passport, but they said that didn’t count. After we went back and forth, I was ready to cancel and go elsewhere since apparently my money wasn’t good there. Maybe he noticed, because he said he’d make an “exception” since I was staying just one day. Gee, thanks. He kept watching the receipt to make sure my payment didn’t decline. Why would it decline after I booked online? I asked for a bigger towel, and he condescendingly said it cost a dollar. Okay, is there a problem?
