This place is unforgettable, and I'm glad I got to avoid a cookie-cutter modern hotel. The inn has a lovely French/Boho/Grandma's house feel, with charming older furnishings. If you only like modern white interiors and antique furniture bothers you, it probably isn't for you. It's in an ideal SF location, with lots of places within a 30 minute walk. My room even had a gas fireplace. Breakfast was next door at White Swan Inn, which is equally charming. It felt cozy, and everything was delicious: scones, steelcut oats, yogurt, coffee, and more. I couldn't make it to wine time, but I'll be back. Staff at both places were very kind and helpful.

A creatively put together little hotel. Anyone who loves artsy places should stay here. The breakfast and free wine space is cute and laid-back. Whenever I visit SF, I'll stay here.

The fireplace in my room made evenings so cozy. In the morning there was a cute breakfast with other guests gathered around the fireplace, plus a complimentary wine and cheese hour. Jacob was so sweet and gave me lots of ideas for things to do since it was my first time in the area. Everyone else I met who worked there was a gem too, including the lovely cleaning lady :~) The coziest place I've ever stayed. Thank you, thank you!

The friendly, helpful staff were a real plus. The fireplace warmed the room well in cold weather, and the bed and pillows were soft and comfortable. But the room was smaller than I expected for a queen bed and fireplace, and there wasn't much furniture, like a table to eat at or a counter. The TV didn't work, and figuring it out was confusing. Some bedding and furniture also looked different from the photos, which disappointed me since I chose the hotel for its design. Things were old, though that wasn't too bad on its own; the floors creaked and thin walls let in a lot of noise, making it hard to sleep. Lights flickered sometimes, and turning off the fireplace made a loud bang, almost like an explosion, which scared me. I was also disappointed by breakfast. There wasn't much information beforehand, and it turned out to be a small spread of premade items like pastries, oranges and apples, cereal, and bread, rather than food cooked fresh. I think that should have been specified before booking.

The staff made me feel especially welcome. The reception team seemed focused on making guests comfortable, and they accommodated every request. The deposit felt quite reasonable too. I'm deeply grateful for their work and attitude, which stood out to me. I loved the beautiful French-style interior and the lovely bath and body products. After a long, chilly journey into San Francisco, the scents of the LATHER toiletries greeted me and made me feel revived and cared for. The lounge fireplaces added a cozy atmosphere that feels special for San Francisco. Breakfast had eggs, delicious French pastries, yogurt, granola, porridge, and drinks, everything you might need to start the day. The location is very good and feels safe. I've heard people mention creaking floors and sound between rooms, but I see that as part of the charm and authenticity of an old-style hotel, and it didn't bother me. I also didn't mind that reception and breakfast serve two sister hotels. I truly enjoyed my stay and hope the hotel continues to prosper.
