The hotel made a safe base for exploring an amazing city. We could easily walk to the waterfront and on to Fishermans Walk, while trams go up from Powell Street nearby. There are also two underground stations outside the hotel with a direct route to the airport. Saluhall was good for an evening meal. We had a welcome break here for 2 nights on our way to New Zealand. Our travel agent had booked it before we read the reviews. The Sky room sounded like something from science fiction, but kind Mark took one look at us and chose a top-floor room all on one level instead. It had a lovely view of the lit-up City Hall. The shower was good, and breakfast was continental style with quite a bit of choice. The pillows were so hard, and I didn't realize I could ask to have them changed. I've requested different ones for our stay on the return journey. There weren't many homeless people right outside the hotel, though some were scattered along Market Street. Don't make eye contact and walk past quickly.

The rooms are average at best, with no wardrobes, chest of drawers, or proper place to hang clothes. Even a short stay was inconvenient because of the lack of storage. Outside the hotel there were loads of people clearly struggling with addiction, leaning against the windows and walls and completely out of it. They were constantly around the entrance, not just one or two, and it felt unsafe and deeply uncomfortable. This was the worst area I've ever seen around a hotel. I'm not exaggerating, and I'd never stay here again for any amount of money. Seriously, avoid this location at all costs and choose somewhere that isn't in what feels like the absolute lowest of the low. A very disappointing experience.

It's kind of like those Little John has a 3m room in New York videos, but they did it right. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed it. The rooms are small, but the minimalist feel is really cool and makes them comfy. The amenities felt luxurious. I'm 6'1 and had to duck to get upstairs, but it was worth the stay.

I was in town for Thanksgiving week/weekend, and the management team really made my stay enjoyable. The staff checked in with me daily and reminded me about breakfast and the regular cleaning staff. The facilities were great and covered what I needed. I work in tech and go to a lot of conferences, and I could get to all the main bus and train stations and scooter options. There was always a guard on duty into the evening and nights, so someone was available for requests. Thanks to the management team. Ask the front desk for their best recommendations around the city.

The staff at the front desk and security were friendly, attentive, and ready to help. The hotel felt secure inside, with strong safety measures, though the streets outside were often dirty because of the crowd. As a first-time visitor, I felt a bit uncomfortable with the large number of homeless people nearby. At night there could be loud music and police sirens. Inside, the room was clean and had a nice city view, but it was quite small and very minimalist. The common area and shower are on the left when you enter, with the bed, small table, and mirror on the right. There's not much room for luggage, manageable for one person but cramped for two. Breakfast was simple, usually a croissant, coffee, tea, yogurt, and fruit, mostly the same each day. Having complimentary tea and coffee available all day was a nice touch. Thanks for the support and for taking good care of guests.
