Our little apartment, booked through Air BNB, was cute and had a nice deep bathtub. The location was extremely convenient, and the cafe downstairs served good coffee. We were glad we brought a white noise machine, because the nights were quiet.

I’ve stayed here twice, once in the popular Sunrise Suite and this time in the Wilderness suite. Both rooms suited my needs and had everything I needed to feel comfortable. I love vintage buildings, so I appreciate this old gem. If you can’t deal with an old building and its quirks, you might want to look elsewhere. The location is excellent and was perfect for our meeting. You do need to keep your voice down, since sound carries to the business and rooms downstairs. Just walk quietly and don’t get too loud in the hallways, and you’ll be fine.

The historic feel and prime downtown Seward location were what drew me in, and the place is quaint. But the shower barely worked, there was no hot water, and the main faucet dripped loudly all night. I might have put that down to old plumbing, but when I called to ask if management could help, two of the three contacts on the room information sheet never responded. The person who answered was out of state and didn’t know there was a problem. He said he’d get back to me, but never did. Getting no response was more disappointing than the shower itself. I requested a refund and, as expected, heard nothing. I couldn’t recommend the place, despite its location and historic ambience. Update: One of the owners contacted me and resolved everything. I’ve changed my rating from two stars to three, and raised service to three as well.

I came for an evening and loved the cute rooms and that ridiculously soft, cozy bed. Everything in town is within walking distance. I imagine summer could be loud, but winter was perfect. That old claw-foot tub was great too!

We’re visiting from Fairbanks, and my family had a really rude, upsetting experience with the property manager around 8:30 pm on 10/25/2024 as we were leaving the lodge. My mother rented the room, but nobody called, messaged, or emailed her. We weren’t slamming doors or being unreasonably loud, and there wasn’t any quiet time listed. We were trying to take a group photo when she came out of her room, barely presentable, and yelled at us. She pointed at me and said she’d messaged me and I told her she had the wrong number. I didn’t book the room, so they didn’t have my contact information. We’re extremely uncomfortable going back, though we have to stay at least tonight. Hopefully we’ll get a refund for tomorrow night. I’d never recommend staying here unless you’re a hermit or mute. We’re very disappointed she didn’t speak to us like customers, and that nobody warned us or even knocked to say someone was bothered or had complained. The rooms are cute and the location is good, though.
