Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Springfield on I-44

The clerk at the desk was friendly and very helpful, and I’d stay here again. It’s a clean, simple place, with a seasonal outdoor pool and entrances from outside. The property is being remodeled. The breakfast was as advertised but disappointing: waffles, one type each of bagel and bread, two kinds of yogurt, and cereal. No peanut butter or eggs, so it’s more of a continental breakfast. There’s a Waffle House next door, and lots of restaurants and fast food just across the highway to the south. The location is convenient along Hwy 44 at Glenstone. For $79, it was what I expected.

The breakfast was very basic, just cereal and waffles, so it was lucky there’s a Waffle House next door. The pool was covered and closed. My fitted sheet was dirty and had to be replaced. When I arrived, they gave me a different room from the one I’d reserved, and I later learned I’d paid more than the local rate because I booked by phone. The front desk couldn’t help, even though I’d made the reservation directly by calling them, and gave me an 800 number instead.

We spent most of our time in the car or outside until dark just to get some room. The hotel room was incredibly cramped, especially with our one-year-old. If someone was at the desk, there wasn’t space to walk past them. We’d asked for a ground-floor room, but were told it wasn’t available because it hadn’t been cleaned in time. The stay was uncomfortable and inconvenient.

Everyone was friendly, and our king suite was clean and larger than most rooms. The bed was comfortable, and soaking in the jacuzzi tub while watching TV was a big plus. Breakfast, though, was very disappointing: cereal, bagels, fruit, yogurt cups, or waffles you make yourself. It’s also a 420-friendly motel, for anyone who needs to know.
