University Motel and Suites

For $55 a night, I expected more than a room with no refrigerator or microwave, no air conditioner, and a heater I couldn't control. Be prepared to sweat or freeze. They called 35 minutes before checkout on checkout day to tell me it was time to leave. This junk should cost $20 a night.

Every desk clerk I've met has been so welcoming, and the housekeeper and I became instant friends. I've never stayed somewhere with such a friendly atmosphere. Best staff ever, all of them! I'm planning to keep my room for another week if it's available. I love it here.

It's 11 p.m. the night before a football game, and my family was waiting in the car with nowhere to sleep. I drove four hours and called before leaving home to confirm the reservation, but once there, the clerk couldn't get either of the two room keys he'd left to try to program to work. I even watched the guest in front of me get a key. The clerk looked for other keys, found none, apologized, and refunded me, saying he couldn't let me into the room. Absolutely ridiculous. I'd give negative stars if I could.

I wouldn't recommend this motel. I tried to get a single kitchenette, but they told me I was on a list and couldn't stay there. I wasn't involved in the incident, though my name apparently got tied to it because I visited my daughter and grandson. The odd thing is, that happened about a year ago, and I was still able to get a room less than four months ago. It's not the best motel anyway. The rooms need remodeling and a lot of cleaning up.
