We left without staying, and thankfully got a refund. In the second room, there were blood marks on the wall, rubbish under both beds, more cigarette burns on the sheets, water damage overhead, and hair in the shower. We hadn't even taken off our coats or shoes before heading back to the office. The first room was just as bad. Though we'd booked a non-smoking king, it reeked of smoke and urine, had bugs, burns on the sheets, and was generally filthy. When I turned on the shower first, dirty water and hair came up from a blocked drain and wouldn't go down. The staff member let us change rooms, but seemed focused on whether we'd used the bed. We got the impression he didn't care about the cleanliness or plan to have the room cleaned. There were no non-smoking king rooms left, so we were moved to an outside room with two double beds. My partner tried to raise the problems, but staff interrupted him, showed no concern, and didn't apologize. The service was terrible, and both rooms were clearly dirty with multiple issues. If you care about your health, I'd look elsewhere. There are other hotels at similar prices where you can get a cleaner stay.

The room itself was fine and seemed clean, so the low ratings I'd seen before booking made me more nervous than they needed to. It's a cheap place and reasonably clean, but don't expect much hospitality. At 9 AM, staff knocked to wake us so they could clear snow from the roof. I understand that job had to be done, but checkout wasn't until 11, and we'd been trying to sleep before a meeting the next day. The staff service was really lacking. I'd suggest staying here if price and a fairly clean room are what you need, not if you're after considerate service.

The part that alarmed me most was what the staff seemed willing to tolerate. When I tried to book another night, the front desk guy was on the phone with police investigating a sex trafficker in the room next to mine. That person had left that morning and was back the next day. I had information I wanted to give police, but my pleas were ignored. I was afraid for my safety, so a friend made an anonymous tip instead. The staff took my payment, and I checked out as soon as I could. They said allowing this clientele was “just business.” If you're a single woman, I'd run from red roof inn Sutton, not walk. The staff should be fired, and I can't recommend this basic hotel at all. I was in a bind because there weren't many pet-friendly hotels near my work. Check-in was smooth. They only asked for ID and payment, and they accept cash, which is very unusual. I had a bad feeling about the room next door, but tried to ignore it for the convenience. The rooms were what you'd expect at a cheap hotel. For the same cost as red roof, I found a more comfortable option in westborough, a 20-minute drive away, with an extended-stay kitchen and cooking amenities, plus a dog fee for the first 5 days.

The large bed was very comfortable, and the sheets and everything else were clean. The bathroom had been updated and was clean too. We could have used another set of towels, but managed. The furniture and other things are older, though. We were wary after reading all the bad reviews, but the price suited us. My wife works as a hotel inspector, and they had no problem letting us see the room first. She checked it over, it was clean and smelled good, so we stayed and were very happy. Our SUV had a PA system, and there were no issues. It was quiet and felt safe. We'll stay again when we're in the area. I don't understand the bad reviews. This place definitely doesn't deserve them.

The parking lot was completely empty, the lobby smelled, and there wasn't a clear sign outside to show you'd arrived. I waited 10 minutes for the manager to come out of her office. She looked me up and down, glanced back at her phone, said something in Russian, then told me, “for you no room.” Just gross. I'd spend the extra $20 and go down the street.
