Super 8 by Wyndham Tyler TX

The room smelled musty, and dust blew out when I switched on the air conditioner. It looked like nothing had been dusted in ages. I also found no face towels, poor plumbing, and a broken ice machine, and there were no do not disturb signs. Then I got bitten by bed bugs. On top of that, the online price wasn't right: the rate went up at check-in and they kept charging my card each day. I left early, but they said they couldn't refund me. Worst hotel experience I've had. I'd give it zero if I could. The health department should know about this place and shut it down.

The room was okay, and for the price it was good value, but I barely slept because the bed was too soft. If you can't sleep on soft beds, don't stay here. There were a couple of minor annoyances too. The advertised vending machines weren't there, and the ice machine downstairs was broken. At checkout I learned there was a working one upstairs, but there was no sign by the broken machine. Breakfast was cereal and a few oatmeal cream pies. I stayed March 31, 2026.

We stayed two quiet nights, had no trouble parking, and were close to everything. The motel is clean, though old and in need of updates. There were no towels in our room, but the desk man got some for us quickly. Check-in was easy and the service was good. We went to McDonalds around the corner since we prefer more than a continental breakfast. A good budget place.

The sink looked as if someone had vomited in it, so I checked out right away and asked for a refund. The cancellation policy still meant I was charged. The whole hotel was dirty and run-down, and the online photos must be 20 years old. I felt it had been falsely advertised as a clean, safe room. I booked another Whyndam, a La Quinta, less than 10 miles away for just a few dollars more per night, and it was much better maintained. I'm waiting to see whether corporate Whyndam will reverse the charge.
