We always have a nice time meeting friends at the Hudson Bar & Grill, and the staff are consistently helpful and courteous. I often stay at the Heathman Lodge with my pet, but paying extra for a pet-friendly room and then getting what seemed like the least desirable room is frustrating. The furniture was in poor shape. There were marks on the walls and doors that looked like damage from dogs, with little sign of repairs. The sofa looked like it had been salvaged from a homeless camp. I wasn't happy paying a premium for a room in that condition. I hope management takes this as intended and replaces furniture that wouldn't usually be found in their guests' homes.

The rooms were spacious, and the building's exterior has a distinctive, well-designed look. Inside, though, the Walmart-style lighting and office-like hallway tiles ruined the atmosphere for me. The bathroom smelled like pee, and I couldn't tell if it came from the toilet seal, shower drain, or unclean tiles. The room's fire alarm went off while I was showering, which had never happened to me before. I travel around the country for work and stay in hotels almost every night. I won't return, and would choose the other hotel down the street.

The rooms feel roomy, with warm decor and a relaxing atmosphere, and the hotel is beautiful throughout. Getting there was easy, and the location is great. Breakfast was a highlight, especially our waitress Cecelee, the best we've ever had. Everyone on staff was lovely. I can't recommend it more highly. If you're coming to the area, stay here.

The staff were fantastic, from the front desk to the restaurant team, who even brought us a couple of glasses for our room. The brunch was delicious, the lobby and its bathrooms were very clean, and the weekend pool hours, 5am-10pm, worked well for us. Our room was spacious and had both a fridge and microwave. There was plenty of parking, and we felt safe. We were in town for the WIAA cheer competition in Battleground, and picking a hotel in an unfamiliar area is hard. This turned out to be a solid choice, with a great location near Battleground, easy freeway access, and plenty of good food options nearby. There were some real problems, though. We were assigned an accessible room without being told. The toilet had no lid, which may have been because of the room type, but I found that nasty and worried flushing could send germs around. On our last day, I noticed black mold all over the bottom of the window AC unit. I have photos. That felt unacceptable, especially with a roughly $20-per-night maintenance fee. If we get sick this week, that won't be hard to investigate. The main elevator was out, so we used the one at the end of the hall, closer to our room. Its annual safety certificate had expired in May 2025. Staff said it was up to spec but they hadn't received a new registration, which didn't reassure me. If it gets stuck, they could have a lawsuit on their hands. We were also charged an extra nightly fee, apparently for maintenance and the gift shop, which seemed odd. We enjoyed the stay and the staff were great, but management should pay more attention to the rooms instead of focusing only on a clean lobby.

The Heathman has a great lodge feel and ambiance, and it's an easy drive from PDX airport, conveniently located between i5a d 205. I've been there for dinner with friends and a catered business meeting, and my wife and I spent our wedding night there as a gift from our best man. The drinks are great and the food is delicious. I'd highly recommend it. Must try, five stars.
