Residence Inn By Marriott Binghamton

Writing this at 4 am. The rooms are nice and clean, but don’t get one on the first floor. You can hear every step from the room directly above. For the last half hour, it’s been stomping, running, and jumping the whole time I’ve been talking.

After more than seven hours of driving during our cross-country move, we stopped at the Residence Inn Binghamton for one night in late June. It felt like a small college-town hotel, and the pet-friendly suite with outdoor access was almost like a little apartment. The large kitchen was to the right, and the open living area led to a sliding glass door with a Charley-Bar. The queen bed was at the back, with the bathroom to the right. There were two closets before the bathroom, though one wouldn’t shut fully without lifting the door frame. The sink counter was spacious, but the sink had no stopper or drain cover. The separate little room with the tub and toilet was so cramped there was barely room to turn around with the door closed. The cushion-firm Sealy queen mattress had a protector with a covered top and mesh sides. It wasn’t too hard, but wasn’t very comfortable for side sleeping. I probably won’t be back in Binghamton, but the noise from the upstairs suite’s guests walking around and watching TV would make me reconsider booking here.

During my month-long stay, my room went more than a week without being cleaned, despite four trips to the front desk. I had to clean it myself and take out the trash and recycling. Housekeeping seemed to be on vacation here, not the guests. EDIT: 01/26/2026. I checked my Marriott account and wasn’t credited for my full last week. Seven nights and about 5000 points are missing. Both the local hotel and corporate dropped the ball on compensating me for a frustrating and pretty disgusting stay. The failures at both levels, fraud maybe, feel like signs of systematic organizational decline. I have more than 200 nights with Marriott, but will likely avoid Marriott properties now. I don’t pay thousands to be frustrated. I can stay home and get that.

The rooms are clean and a good size, and the location and amenities are great. Parking could be better.
