It’s not a formal luxury ballroom, but setups for DJs and other entertainment are generally straightforward, with manageable load-in and room for people to mingle. The open atrium and contemporary interiors have an urban, warehouse-like feel that suits Old Town and works for a wedding block or rehearsal weekend. I liked how easy it was to reach Wichita’s Old Town attractions, shops, restaurants, and entertainment from the hotel. The Bistro serves breakfast, dinner, and Starbucks drinks, which is handy when you want to eat on site. There’s also an indoor pool and fitness center, plus shared areas and a cozy lobby for sitting, working, or meeting up. For work trips, the meeting rooms have current technology and staff support for conferences, business gatherings, and social events. Guest rooms have Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, comfortable bedding, and workspaces, and some look out over the city. The hotel aims to balance getting things done with a comfortable place to unwind. I found the service attentive, and the modern setting made the stay feel welcoming whether visiting for business, leisure, or both.

The staff are the reason I keep coming back. Every person I’ve talked with has been fantastic, accommodating, and lovely to get to know. The rooms have always been spacious, even when I was in a standard one, and I like the history display showing how the building changed over time. There are good shared areas on the lower, first, and second floors, and the lobby seating works well for my big family to come and go and hang out. Still, this was our third visit this year and the rules seem different each time. Breakfast was included when I booked once but wasn’t when I arrived. On the second stay it wasn’t included, though the breakfast itself was good. This morning there were no meat choices unless you paid extra, even though breakfast cost the same as the previous two months. Parking costs extra, isn’t convenient, and often there’s no space. The rooms also lack microwaves, apparently because the hotel caters to business travelers. I’d still want one to heat cold coffee or make popcorn. I come for the people, but these changes make my monthly visits feel different, and I’m not sure I can recommend it.

The people I’ve dealt with have been top notch, including the cleaning crew, and the staff are super nice. I’m sad to see the bar and bistro being run this way. I stay at a lot of Marriott properties and usually choose Courtyards for their food and bar, but this one is often closed or out of liquor. There doesn’t seem to be food available anymore, and they’ve taken down the bistro advertising. It feels like the owners gave up on keeping it stocked.
