Commander by the Sea Motel

I was just a couple of weeks ahead of peak summer, so the pool wasn't quite in season for me. The shared balcony area was a lovely place to relax, though, and the room was comfortable. Alex was terrific, and the whole motel was spotless. It was my first time in Wildwood, and finding this spot right on the beach felt lucky. I imagine it's much busier in summer, but I'd definitely come back.

We celebrated our fifth anniversary here and had a beautiful oceanfront suite with a balcony overlooking the beach. The room was clean, well kept, and stocked really well. The beach was only a two-minute walk away. The man at the main office was attentive and helpful, though I didn't get his name. There's a pool and grills, plus a large shared balcony with a beach view for guests without an oceanfront room. I'd book again and recommend the motel.

We'd already booked for next year before leaving, and a friend I brought along this time plans to come back too. I've been coming here with family for 52 years, though I missed last year because my mother was ill and then passed away. I live in Florida and drove up this year to keep the tradition going with my family. The owners changed a few years ago, and Alex, who runs the motel, gave us such wonderful hospitality. He made it a great vacation for my family. It feels like family here, the rooms are very clean, and the location gives you both the beach and the pool. Five stars from me. Thanks, Alex!

My family and I were very disappointed and won't return. I also saw Alex be rude and racist toward another family staying there. The listing said my room had a balcony with sea views, but we got a ground-floor room with no view. There was a large truck right outside our window, with the parking lot directly in front. When I asked Alex, he said “balcony” meant a shared common balcony that anyone could use. I told him I'd paid for a room with a balcony and an ocean view, but he said those rooms were all full.
