Courtyard by Marriott Wilmington / Wrightsville Beach

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we felt right at home. The people working here were wonderful. Josh, Marrisa, Artis, Lionel, Mykayla, Chad, Andrew, and the housekeeping staff were all tremendous.

Emani did a great job cleaning our room on Saturday. When we came back, it was noticeably cleaner and properly stocked, she really went above and beyond. We stayed Friday through Monday. The room was quite small, but tidy, nicely decorated, and smelled good.

The bed was comfortable, which is why I didn't give this place one star, but I expected more from Marriott. Our king suite needs a serious renovation. The old couch was so uncomfortable that we had to sit in the kitchen chairs. Paint was peeling so badly in the pool that it felt unsafe to use, and the bathroom mirror light was too dim for me to get ready.

I had to call maintenance because the door wouldn't lock when I arrived. That was unsettling, and I kept thinking what might have happened if I hadn't noticed. The hallways and room were dark, the TV was tiny, the carpet was sticky and filthy, and the linens were stained and worn. I felt dirty and unwell for the whole night I stayed. I usually feel safe at a Marriott, but this hotel didn't meet the chain's standards. One night was more than enough, and I wouldn't stay here again. If I'd found somewhere else that night, I would have left. I might cross the Courtyard brand off my hotel options entirely, because SpringHill would never disappoint me like this. Spending almost $1 here felt like too much. Zero out of ten, I wouldn't recommend it. Cleanliness and safety shouldn't be compromised.
