The Verandas

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location was fantastic. It's a beautiful facility with lots of history. We really enjoyed our stay, even though the other guests had eaten all the breakfast before we arrived.

After we left, we realized we'd forgotten a small bag in our room. Within a couple of days, a staff member called to offer to ship it, and a week later it arrived by UPS. That kind of thoughtful follow-up is why the Verandas will be our home base if we visit Wilmington again. We were already charmed by the historic, well-kept building, friendly service, and ideal spot near historic downtown Wilmington.

I come to Wilmington at least twice a year and always stay here. It's hands down the best bed and breakfast I've stayed at on my travels. The service and cleanliness make it feel like home.

The location is still amazing, but we were very disappointed with the Verandas. We've stayed many times, and under the new owner the breakfast was a huge letdown. I've had better breakfasts at Holiday Inn Express. The coffee was cold in a separate room, so you had to carry it through the piano room, hallway, and living room. Such a dumb setup. Breakfast was sad scrambled eggs, dry mini quiches, and day old pastries and bagels. We'll still return to Wilmington, but we won't stay at the Verandas again.
