My Hotel - Eiffel Hotel

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the Vietnamese people we met were kind and accommodating. The hotel did what we needed as a place to sleep while we went out during the day, but it isn't a high-end place. The room was spacious, though nothing fancy, and it had Western TV channels. It wasn't spotless, but manageable. Laundry was prompt and good value. The bathroom flooded when we showered, and the toilet wasn't cleaned to the standard I'd expect at a higher-star hotel. There was complimentary water, smoking was allowed in the rooms, and we were offered condoms, which made us wonder if it might also be used for adult services. The area didn't feel that nice, so we kept valuables with us rather than leaving them in the room. The advertised two stars seemed about the limit, and the owner could invest in the property to improve it. Getting to central Hanoi isn't that far, though locals seemed to think it was a long way, at most about 2 km. A taxi from the lake should be no more than 50,000 dong. One driver tried to charge us 400,000 dong, and we made a big fuss rather than pay it. Hotel staff translated our complaint and sorted it out. Scooter rides from Hanoi are usually 30,000 dong, 40,000 at most. We found it best to stand firm, offer half the first price, and stick to our amount. There are plenty of ways to get around, and someone else will often take your price. We found vendors and services responded to bargaining too. Most likely I won't return, but the customer service was excellent, with all the staff very helpful and friendly. Thanks for that.

The room was lovely and comfortable, and very clean. There was a big flat-screen TV for watching Champions League soccer. The fridge had bottled water, soda, an energy drink, beer, and liquor, and the snack basket had candy, chips, and instant noodles for when you get hungry. Highly recommend, A++.

At about 520k a night for a single room, it's a great deal. I would still rather have an AC unit with a remote control :)

The place was dirty, with a smoke smell covered up by a disgusting floral fragrance. The duvet covers were brown, and breakfast was in a gross little basement kitchen. Don't book here.
