Making guests go out and buy a toothbrush after check-in is inconvenient and shows poor planning. A toothbrush is a basic item travelers expect, particularly at a hotel charging for full service. There are biodegradable and other eco-friendly options, so using the environment as an excuse to remove this essential amenity feels lazy. Taking away plastic combs or cotton swabs is fine, since people don't really rely on those. I understand wanting to protect the environment, but this policy is impractical and makes no sense. It comes across as cutting costs instead of caring about sustainability. If the hotel wants to be greener, it should offer responsible alternatives rather than remove basic amenities completely. This shows little understanding of what guests need and makes the stay worse. I hope management rethinks it, because right now it feels like cost-cutting, not environmental care.
Room service was good, and being able to use the laundry machines on the fourth floor was great. The shower stall is really tiny, though, and hot water only lasts about a minute. The bed is quite hard if that's your preference. Ants bit us in bed even though we were on the fourth floor and kept no food in the room. The bathroom was a bit dirty, with mold in the corner caulking, which I expect in Vietnam.
The design is nice, but the walls have cracks everywhere and the place isn't well maintained. The staff weren't very helpful or friendly. They didn't even say hello when they saw us in the morning. We come to Saigon often for business and hoped to find a cozy place that felt like a second home. Instead, when we asked about future bookings, the staff weren't willing to show us other rooms.
Fresh ingredients from the local market and seasoning that suits Southern taste made the food excellent. The atmosphere felt zen, with dim lighting.
The location is handy, with a cafe, restaurants and a mini mart nearby when you go out. We could check in early even though we arrived at 6 a.m., and the manager was friendly. But getting a taxi to the guest house was awkward because cars couldn't go in, and after shopping we had to carry everything a long way. It was noisy, the internet kept disconnecting, and the pictures didn't match what we found after check-in. None of the staff could speak English, and after 10 in the morning nobody was at the lobby counter to help. The security situation didn't feel very reassuring. The room was dusty and dirty, and we got mite bites all over our bodies. We caught the mites in the bed and started itching less, but the room cleaner never responded when we told them. We had to call repeatedly for cleaning, and the cleaners weren't reliable. There were mosquitoes and mites in the lobby too. During our 13 days, the staff were mostly terrible, and it wasn't a good stay. My biggest frustration was that we bought medicine and cleaned everything ourselves after getting bitten, but the hotel took no responsibility. When we asked the cleaner to throw away rubbish after we cooked, she searched through everything and reported it. My friend smoked on the balcony, but they complained that we smoked in the room. They have a designated smoking area, and when my friend smoked there, they came back with red mosquito bites all over. We asked to change rooms, but were told no, and they said they hadn't had many complaints about mites. We didn't ask for cleaning on one day, but the maid went in anyway. The manager then said they'd entered and cleaned the room. When the cleaner did come, she stared at us like CCTV and kept messaging on her phone while cleaning one spot, then went outside to call someone without saying anything and locked the door. That felt disrespectful. In the last few days, I kept hearing knocking on the balcony, though I don't know why it was so noisy. We checked and the rooms on both sides had already checked out. Even after we locked the balcony door again, the knocking continued, along with water suddenly dripping in the toilet. For the last two nights, the knocking felt spooky. There weren't many people staying there, but I often heard doors opening.
