After a long day seeing beautiful Salzburg, it was quick to get back to the hotel, which is very central. Andreas took my simple request into account and found me a lovely room on the 3rd floor of the Residenz building. It had everything I needed, a high ceiling, a chandelier that added character, a super comfortable bed, and well chosen curtains that helped me get a deep, refreshing sleep. My quick visit to the spa area was relaxing too, and the later room choice let me get some much needed beauty rest. Breakfast was great and had a good variety, though I’d have appreciated more vegan options. Charles was so helpful and kind, and looked after us with a genuine smile. That all made for a really good stay, and I hope to visit again. Thanks for having me 😊 Don’t question my fashion sense, the timing was perfect 🤭 so I had to rock the “Bade-mantel” look like Rihanna 😁🥰

The room was extremely warm, even with the window wide open, and there was no airflow. The air conditioning never worked, despite being listed as available when I booked. I told the hotel staff, who said they’d look into it. Later, I was told a technician was working on it and that they’d update me, but I never heard anything more. With the room so hot, I also had to put up with loud, drunk people and bugs. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The location suited us perfectly. We could walk to all the main city attractions, and only needed public transport for Hellbrunn Palace. We came by train and walked about 15 minutes to the hotel. My wife and I stayed four nights during a longer tour of Austria, and I’d certainly return and recommend it to others. The room was very clean and fairly spacious, with plenty of storage, and most of all it was peaceful. The bed was extremely comfortable for us, as we like a firm mattress, though the pillows were rather lumpy. Every member of the reception and breakfast staff was friendly, cheerful, and helpful. They’re a real credit to the hotel.

For what it costs, I expected a much nicer room. It was dirty, with grimy walls and door handles, hairs on the sheets before we’d slept in them, a broken towel heater, and lots of dust in less-touched spots. The staff were friendly and the sauna was pleasant, but the price didn’t feel justified. Breakfast was overpriced for what you get too. I won’t be back.
