MEININGER Hotel Wien Downtown Sissi

We had a great short stay in this simple, clean and cozy hotel. The neighborhood is quiet and a little far from the center, which suited us perfectly. There are lots of good restaurants and cute cafes nearby. There’s only one bus line very close, but plenty of tram and metro stops within a short walk. Can’t wait to come back.

We spent seven days in three different Meininger hotels across three countries, and each was excellent in its own way. In Vienna, we arrived at the Meininger Sisi Hotel around 4 a.m. after a long, exhausting journey. Emilio welcomed us right away with such a helpful attitude that he made us really happy. We thanked him in person, but I want everyone here to know what a wonderful person he is. Pouyan took over the morning shift and was just as attentive, doing everything he could to make sure we were comfortable. They made us feel like guests in their own home, and we’re truly grateful to them.

We left straight away and moved to another hotel. The bathroom smelled very unpleasant and was full of mold. We checked other rooms, but visible mold was in all of them. The carpets were old and very dirty, simply unacceptable. Never again. Our stay at Hotel Meininger Sissi was awful. It advertises family-friendly prices, but the cost was anything but reasonable. We can’t recommend it.

All five stars are for John, the morning receptionist! He was the best, so friendly, and helped us with everything we needed. We had a problem with a book at get your guide, and he sorted it out, bringing our smiles back. He’s from the great Philippines, and there are no words for him.
