Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders by IHG

The hotel was stylish with its own character, and the facilities were clean and tidy. It was close enough to walk to Sealife Melbourne Aquarium, Flinders Station, cafes and the shopping district. The front desk responded promptly when our first room had a TV that shut off after five seconds and air conditioning that didn’t seem to turn on. They checked the problems and happily arranged another room, though it would have been nice if they’d offered to move our luggage after my family had settled in. The bed and pillows felt a little too soft for us, just personal preference, and a firmer pillow option would be useful. The air conditioning was controlled centrally, so I couldn’t see how to use the room control to lower the temperature further. The hotel car park was still under construction and they said it would be ready in a week, so we had to park across the street in the secure car park. Still, it was a great stay.

The friendly, welcoming service stood out most, especially from Krish, the gentleman who checked me in today. He was patient and thoughtful. As a business manager myself, I feel the way staff treat customers reflects the quality of management, and this hotel is doing a great job. Thank you all for a great experience, please keep it up. I’m travelling alone and staying two nights. The lobby art and photographs made a strong first impression, and the contemporary art style felt memorable and impressive. In my room, the warm, bright lighting worked well with the paintings and decor. The facilities were new and clean, and there were no bad smells like you can get in some new hotels.

We had a very pleasant stay. The interior was stylish and well designed, and everything was clean throughout. Staff knew their stuff and gave us clear, helpful details about getting to AO. We arrived early and asked for early check-in. At first, only a Level 1 room was available, which we preferred not to take. The receptionist helped check us in first and let us know as soon as another room opened up, so we didn’t have to go through check-in again. Great location and excellent service.

The room had loads of space for us and all our things. We had two double beds in 28 m2, with comfortable beds and a choice of soft or firm pillows. The shower tub and bathroom were roomy too. There was a luggage area in the foyer where I could open my suitcase while my husband kept his inside the room. Staff helped us order a taxi and packed breakfast for us to take away since we had to leave early and couldn’t enjoy the buffet. The hotel is near Southern Cross Station, on the quieter side of the Melbourne CBD, but still convenient for getting around on the free trams within the free zone. I’d recommend staying here.
