Hostal Oro Blanco

The owner canceled my reservation and sent me away before I ever got to the room. I was checking the price on my phone at the front desk because I'd had currency conversion and tax questions at other Bolivian hostels. I politely said I just wanted to confirm the amount, and when he asked if there was a problem, I said no. As I was about to pay, he suddenly got aggressive and told me to leave if I didn't like the price. I don't think I was rude, and his reaction made me wonder if something was wrong with him. I've traveled widely and have never had this happen at a hotel or hostel. You can find a cheaper place in town on arrival, including one across the street that charges 50 bolivianos for a private room. Given how unwelcoming this place was, I'd stay elsewhere.

The exterior looked nice, but we got there at 6:30 in the morning and were told they didn't have the rooms we'd booked, only one room for four people. They said to wait until 12:00 in case something became available. We had a trip booked and couldn't wait, and after we gave up on the hotel the owner, a dark-haired man with glasses, started arguing with us, swearing and intimidating us. He refused to give us a copy of our passport and threatened us. There was no hot water either. They cheat people. Stay away, the man is crazy.

We ended up here because our hotel had a party. The triple room was a single room with three beds and barely enough space to move around. There was no heating, and the bathroom was tiny, about the size of an elevator for five people. It had no hot water, so we couldn't shower. I'd only stay if there were no other options.

The rooms are small, but Wi-Fi is included and there's a private bathroom and shower. I was able to leave my bicycle behind the entrance.
