The room reeked of cigarettes. There were holes in the closet door, the bathroom vinyl floor was peeling, and the sheets had stains and cigarette burns. I also found several dead bugs squashed on the walls and windowsill. I've stayed in hotels all over North America, and this was probably the worst one. I don't know how it has a 4/5 rating, they must be buying positive reviews. Spend more and stay somewhere decent.
We stayed here in August 2024, and I wouldn't come back or recommend it. The room was dirty, and being old and dated doesn't excuse that. There was a dryer sheet on a light bulb, which is a fire hazard, dust coated the lamp hardware, and the curtains were moldy. By the sink, the floor was dirty, with a lot of coarse hair on it and along the cabinet ledge. The tub had residue in every corner, as if soap bottles had been sitting there for a while, and the shower curtain was filthy. The first thing we noticed was that the adjoining room door was open. We later learned people were living next door, so they may well have been using the second room when it was unoccupied.
We liked the rooms and staff so much on our way to Niagara Falls that we stayed here again on the way back. My family and I had originally planned to go to Niagara Falls last week, but decided to spend the night in North Bay. The rooms were amazing and the staff incredible!
BED BUGS, beware! I stayed here on September 8th 2025, and it was easily the sketchiest hotel I've ever been in. There seemed to be drug deals happening outside other rooms. The halls and stairwells smelled like old pee, and people who looked homeless walked around the parking lot all night, checking car handles. I was genuinely afraid to sleep, so I shoved the couch in front of the door and used a chair to block the closet door, which had a big vent in it. In the morning, after my shower, I noticed 12 bites clustered on my chest while getting dressed. There were more behind my ear, on my neck, under my chin, behind my right shoulder, on the back of my arm, and in clusters on my left arm and shoulder. I had worn pants, a tank top, and socks to bed, and got bites on all the exposed skin. I called the property manager to report what happened and warn them about the bed bug issue. The manager got defensive and kept saying they had never had a complaint before, even though I was plainly making one. Do yourself a favour and rent somewhere else, unless you don't mind getting bed bug bites all over and possibly bringing contamination back into your home.
We had a quiet stay and slept really well. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean, and both the bed and pillows were comfortable. Our room also had a fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and free coffee. The staff were more than helpful. We just got back to Niagara after four nights, and I honestly don't understand the criticism. Thanks for a great stay! 💖
