Smithers Guesthouse

The beds were comfortable and the hot tub was just the right temperature. Even with all the rooms booked, it stayed really quiet. The host was friendly and knew the area well, and the kitchen was clean and well equipped, with a roomy living room. On July 1st, the host baked two kinds of filled cupcakes and shared them with the guests.

The hot tub and common sitting area were nice, and there was plenty of space to eat. But the room change was completely unacceptable. Without asking, the host switched us to a smaller room with no kitchenette, up a flight of stairs, and without a private entrance. We only found out an hour before arrival, when we called the guesthouse. The explanation was that someone else wanted the room for the two nights we had booked it. She did let us do one load of laundry free to make up for it, but that didn't fix the problem. The new room was too cramped for a king bed, so we had to take turns getting past it, and the bathroom was about the size of a small closet. The shared kitchen seemed short on equipment, with a lot of cast-offs. That's why the rating is low.

We needed somewhere for our last two nights in smithers after a horrible experience, and Wendi was friendly and accommodating when she heard what had happened. The rooms are bright and comfortable, each with a private bathroom, and there's a roomy shared living and kitchen area. It's also just a few minutes' walk from downtown. I'd definitely book here again.

We clearly love staying here, and the prices are VERY reasonable. The hot tub looks out toward the stunning mountains, with a BBQ and sitting area nearby, plus a living room and fully stocked kitchen. There are only five rooms, so it's quiet and feels very secure. The rooms are beautiful and spotless, with different layouts to suit your preference, and the place is close to all amenities. Wendy and Garrett, the owners, are lovely and personable. Literally our favorite place to stay in Smithers. Highly highly recommend!
