I really liked the reserved parking under the hotel, especially the dedicated spaces for IHG Diamond Elite members. The complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning and Social Hour from 5 to 6 PM were nice touches, as at other Kimpton properties. Breakfast at The Fortunate Fox was fine, but nothing memorable. The room temperature was just right, something I’d been a bit concerned about after reading other reviews, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our upgrade to a one-bedroom suite as IHG Diamond Elite members was a pleasant surprise. It was very spacious, though the bathroom felt a little small by comparison. The walk-in shower right beside the bathtub wasn’t the most practical setup. The suite and common areas were well maintained, but to me the hotel didn’t quite feel luxurious. The big suite was a little bare, almost like a Crate & Barrel showroom. We found the minibar completely empty, and I would have liked at least a couple of bottles of water in the room. There was a Nespresso machine, but the used capsules weren’t replaced during turndown. Paper coffee cups instead of proper ceramic ones were disappointing. At a Kimpton, I’d expect better, more like what I’d expect at a Holiday Inn. The location was very convenient for getting around on foot or by public transport, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops a short walk away. The front desk staff weren’t especially warm or outgoing, but I barely interacted with them. Check-in was very quick and efficient, if somewhat impersonal. I stayed at the Kimpton Saint George for a couple of nights, and despite those details that I may unfairly take for granted at hotels in this category, I probably would have given it a perfect score.
We lucked into a room with a record player, and the records they provided were just the right vibe. The next day we borrowed bikes and spent a few hours riding around the city. Late afternoon brought wine and pizza, and muffins, tea, and coffee were available in the morning. Those touches made the stay feel indulgent. We had a fabulous Sunday night at the Kimpton. I loved the design of our room and the small details you don’t usually find in a hotel room, like a yoga mat. It was a great stay, and we’ll definitely come back.
Mary at the front desk was lovely, and the gym was just the right small size for a quick workout while travelling, with basic equipment. The lobby felt cozy and welcoming, and happy hour from 5 to 6 pm came with complimentary wine, popcorn, and little pizza slices. We loved staying at The Kimpton. We were lucky to get an upgrade to a spacious, beautifully decorated suite.
The staff were lovely throughout, and Thiru at the front desk deserves a special thank you. He welcomed us with a huge smile, checked us in quickly, and answered all our questions. The room was spotless, a good size, and had lots of amenities. Five stars for the rooms, service, and location without hesitation. There’s a nice coffee spot across the street, and the hotel offers valet parking. The lobby is cute and has a fireplace. Every day from 5 to 6 pm, they served free wine and pizza, both very good. Big stores, Eataly, and plenty of good bars, cocktail lounges, and excellent restaurants are all about 5-10 minutes away on foot. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Toronto. Thanks for a lovely experience.
The location is a bit beyond the downtown core, but there’s still plenty to see and do. Bar Mercurio is right next door and well worth the meal. The hotel bar is good for a casual drink, too. I arrived at 5, just in time for Social Hour, with complimentary wine and pizza. A nice welcome. The lobby is small but cozy, the staff were attentive and had a few things we’d forgotten, and the room was quiet, very clean, and had a comfortable bed. I liked the hotel’s boutique style, and the onsite parking garage was easy to find.
