City Hostel Geneva

I stayed twice and felt it was worth it. The style is old fashioned and the rooms are small, but they’re very clean, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are nice and spacious. There’s a well-equipped kitchen, and the location is good. I also left my luggage there for a week at a very good price.

The rooms are quite small, but the location and the people are perfect. It’s one of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever seen. I definitely recommend it.

I’m fine with cheap and cheerful places, but this one feels like a prison. It’s bleak, and my room reeked of cigarettes. I tried airing it out for hours in the middle of January, so then it was cold as well as smelling of smoke. Just grim.

For hotel-expensive Geneva, this was great value. I came for a short meeting and found a hostel at a reasonable rate, with a basic but practical setup. My private single room had a sink but no TV. The shared T/B and shower stalls were clean all the time. Wi-Fi was easy to connect to and strong enough for vvoip. The bed was comfortable. There was no a/c, but a table fan kept the room cool at night. I was on the first floor, so the four-floor elevator wasn’t needed. Downstairs there’s an indoor dining area and a small open-air patio connected to a common kitchen. The basement washer and dryer cost 9 chf per load and were useful. It’s about 3-4 blocks from gare cornavin, with a line 15 metro stop a few meters away. Coop, denner, migros and Lidl are one or two blocks away.
