Berlin City Apartment am KaDeWe

Across our stay, I managed to reach them eight times, and they kept their word only twice. For six of us split between two three-person apartments, there was no reliable service beyond getting the keys. Their setup seems to rely on deliberate understaffing, broken promises, and apologies that let them dodge responsibility. They said they had only one handyman for 40 apartments, and even after promising emergency repairs, no one came to our rooms during the entire stay. We had told our contact person we'd arrive at 17:00. A few minutes before that, he called to say he was 30 minutes late. Half an hour later he said another 30 minutes, and then did it once more. He blamed an "accident," but nobody was available to cover for him. Both apartments had badly leaking bath drains, and the bathrooms flooded. A leak can happen, but the same problem in both places suggests poor maintenance. The leaflet on the door said to call IMMEDIATELY if there was a problem, but the number they gave us was out of service, with no voicemail. We couldn't reach anyone even after 10am. When we finally got someone in the afternoon, he said he'd send someone within an hour. We returned around 20:30 and nothing had changed. They promised a handyman for 09:00 the next day, but nobody showed up. This apartment has the worst service I've encountered in all my travels.

The address on Google is wrong. Public transport is convenient, with a train station right at the door. The bed was just okay, not very comfortable, but the heating system was wonderful.

Getting around was easy, which was the only upside. The whole apartment and stairwell were filthy, with thick dust everywhere, including behind the bed and around the pictures. The kitchen was dated and the appliances were dirty. Beds were worn through, furniture was old, and the bathroom had nowhere to put things or hang towels. Even the key didn't fit properly. I wouldn't recommend it at all. It would be too expensive even for free!

The worst rental experience I've had. The online photos bore no resemblance to the apartment, and for two days we tried to confirm the booking without getting an answer from the owner or Booking.com. On arrival, the owner was 30 minutes late and left right after handing us the keys, without apologizing. The bed frame was broken, and the Wi-Fi we'd paid €20 for didn't work. He never answered our calls, so we slept on the floor on mattresses only 10 cm thick. A torn garbage bag sat on the landing in the stairwell for a week, and nobody took it away.
