It’s in a peaceful residential part of Dusseldorf, with local restaurants nearby and easy access to the airport. Stadtmitte (city centre) is farther away, so it’s a calm place to stay if you’re fine using transport. The hotel had only recently opened, and some things weren’t quite right, but the staff went out of their way to help whenever we spoke to them, including moving our room. It was clean and pleasant.

I’ve travelled all over and never run into a water situation like this. After the first day there was no water in my room, and I couldn’t even find a minibar. There was no note or price list explaining it. If you got thirsty at night, you might have none in the room. Asking reception to bring some cost 20 euros, while going down to buy it was 1 euro, or they’d tell you to drink tap water. Don’t be taken in by the location.

Really enjoyed my stay at Essential by Dorint. The rooms were nice, the gym was good, and getting to the airport, Messe, and Hauptbahnhof was easy.

Interpack Messe is nearby, with a 20-minute walk to the east entrance. The rate went up because of high occupancy, and the minimum stay was 3 nights. $$$$
