Scandic Frankfurt Hafenpark

The riverside setting was beautiful, and having a room with a river view turned out to be well worth choosing. The hotel was also convenient for my conference. I liked the relaxed, well-kept feel of the restaurant, and breakfast had a great spread. The cheese omelette deserves a special mention. I arrived around 12:30 PM and was pleasantly surprised to get an early check-in without any trouble. They let me choose a city or river view. The room was stylish and comfortable, and there were good workspaces around the hotel. The riverside was lovely for walking or running. The area seemed quiet at first, but I later felt safe and comfortable there. The gym overlooking the river was a nice touch, and the sauna was a bonus, though I didn’t get to try it. The fresh, classy interiors made a strong first impression.

The hotel has a lovely Scandinavian design, with attention to detail, and the staff were friendly. I arrived early planning to leave my bag, but my room was ready, and I got a high floor with a nice view of the park and river. The gym is well equipped, with plenty of free weights, cables, and even sandbags. I liked the sauna too. It’s a bit outside the center, but tram 11 is five minutes away, and you can walk along the Main to reach the center in about 30 minutes.

The room itself was very good, but the bathroom was very dirty, as the photos show. At check-in, when we hadn’t booked breakfast, the receptionist sarcastically said, “Hmm, you’re really missing something.” We ended up adding breakfast for the next morning. The croissants and waffle machine were nice, but the hot food selection was limited. The sausages were cold, and the scrambled eggs were swimming in hot, eggy water. At 24/27 euro per person, the price felt inflated by the champagne and whole salmon on offer. The breakfast as a whole lacked depth, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The hotel is in a pleasant neighborhood beside the European Central Bank HQ, though shops and restaurants are a bit far away without a car. The bed and room fittings were good, and breakfast was good too. Staff were pleasant and helpful, although checkout was slow.
